Sassari secures funding for ex-Coni sports facilities
The city of Sassari has secured 3.3 million euros in regional funding to revitalize two former Coni sports facilities located on via Coradduzza and via Prati. The project aims to acquire the buildings from Sport e Salute, an in-house company of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and subsequently renovate them.
The facility on via Coradduzza, named in memory of volleyball player Pier Paolo Peru, has been closed for over 20 years. Total costs for the redevelopment are estimated at approximately 5 million euros, with 4 million euros allocated specifically for the Peru facility. The remaining funds will cover the acquisition and renovation of the second site.
This initiative is part of a larger 10 million euro allocation received by Sassari from the Sardinia Region for the regeneration of 15 local sports facilities. Other planned improvements include work on the Palazzetto in via Kennedy, which is set to receive 1.65 million euros to complement PNRR funds for completion by February.
