Sassari stabbing investigation continues after teen attacked

Authorities in Sassari are investigating a stabbing that occurred outside a local venue during the night between Saturday and Sunday. The suspect, 19-year-old Alessio Tonzanu of Sorso, has been detained in Bancali on charges of attempted murder. Tonzanu, who reportedly has a criminal record including a previous arrest for a stabbing in July 2025, appeared visibly distressed and sustained head injuries and bruising.

The victim, a 17-year-old male, remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari. While he is currently out of danger, his testimony will be critical to reconstructing the events.

Under the direction of substitute prosecutor Giovanni Dore, investigators are examining the circumstances that led Tonzanu to carry a double-edged dagger. Authorities have seized smartphones from both individuals to analyze potential messages or threats exchanged prior to the incident.
