Sassari to honor physician Paolo Ruju on centenary of birth
An event will be held in Sassari on Friday, October 23, to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Professor Paolo Ruju, a prominent anesthesiologist. The meeting, titled “Centenario della nascita del Prof. Paolo Ruju. La figura di un medico che ha segnato la svolta della medicina sassarese,” will take place at the Fondazione di Sardegna conference hall.
Professor Ruju is credited with establishing and organizing the first Anesthesia and Intensive Care service in Sassari. He previously served as the director of the Institute of Anesthesia and Resuscitation and the School of Specialization in Anesthesia, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sassari.
The gathering, organized by the La Rosa Rossa association, will feature several of Ruju’s former students. They will discuss his contributions to medical advancements in the region, including painless childbirth, dialysis, and cardioanesthesia.
