Sassella Tartero pasta manufacturer files for insolvency
Sassella Tartero GmbH, a pasta manufacturer based in Rheinbach, Germany, has filed for insolvency. The district court in Bonn opened the proceedings at the beginning of October, citing insolvency and excessive debt as the primary reasons.
The company was founded in 1997 by two brothers who expanded from their successful restaurant, Sassella, located in the Kessenich district of Bonn. The restaurant was known for hosting prominent political figures, including former Chancellor Helmut Kohl and former Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Sassella Tartero produces pasta using traditional bronze presses and supplies hotels, restaurants, delicatessens, and major supermarket chains such as Rewe and Edeka across Germany. While the brothers handed over the management of their original restaurant to a family member in 2025, that establishment remains unaffected by the current insolvency. Creditors are expected to meet in November to decide on the future of the pasta factory.
