Sassuolo bolsters squad with new signings and defensive searches

Sassuolo is actively managing its transfer market to bolster the squad for the 2026/27 season under manager Alberto Aquilani. The club has secured its first two signings, Kieron Bowie and Vasilije Adzic, while also finalizing the permanent acquisitions of goalkeeper Aro Muric and defender Sebastian Walukiewicz for a combined 12 million euros.

The club's finances have been significantly impacted by the sale of Tarik Muharemovic to Leeds for 40 million euros, a substantial profit following his 2 million euro purchase two years prior. Despite this windfall, the squad faces defensive challenges due to the departure of Muharemovic and various injuries.

To address defensive shortages, Sassuolo is exploring several options, including interest in Jackson Tchatchoua from Wolverhampton, Gabriele Zappa from Cagliari, and Niccolò Fortini. The club has also looked into high-profile free agents like Francesco Acerbie and Matteo Darmian, though their availability remains uncertain. Additionally, a loan attempt for Femi Seriki from Sheffield was unsuccessful.
