Italy inaugurates several new sustainable school facilities

Several new sustainable educational facilities have been inaugurated across various Italian municipalities.

In Sassuolo, the Sant’Agostino 0-6 School Hub has opened. The facility, designed as a Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB), is constructed from wood using Xlam and laminated timber. It serves 178 children across nursery and kindergarten sections and features solar thermal systems, heat pumps, and internal green courtyards.

In Riccione, the new Panoramica primary school has opened its doors to approximately 150 students. The 2,200-square-meter structure is built with high-resistance seismic wood and utilizes solar panels to achieve near-zero energy consumption.

Additionally, the Masaccio primary school in Cascia has been inaugurated following a 2.3 million euro project funded by the PNRR. The new building accommodates up to 125 students and includes modular classrooms, a library, and a rainwater recovery system for irrigation and services.
