Sassuolo to host free baroque music concert by Vicetia Musicalis

The Grandezze & Meraviglie festival will host a free baroque music concert titled ‘Virtuosismo alla Todesca’ on Tuesday, October 6, at 9:00 PM at the Chiesa di San Giorgio in Sassuolo.

The performance features the Vicetia Musicalis ensemble, a group composed of students and graduates from the Department of Ancient Music at the Conservatory of Vicenza. Led by conductor and baroque violin specialist Fabio Missaggia, the ensemble will explore the Central European style of the 18th century.

The program includes works by Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer, specifically the Concerto Armonico No. 5 in F minor, and a selection of compositions by Georg Philipp Telemann. Telemann’s contributions, which include concertos for recorder, transverse flute, oboe, and two violins, are highlighted for their ability to blend German rigor with Italian cantability.
