German reality TV: New seasons announced for Sat. 1 and RTL

German television networks are preparing new seasons of popular reality formats. Sat. 1 has begun filming the fifth season of ‘Promis unter Palmen’ in Thailand, featuring a cast of twelve celebrities including Harald Glööckler, Elena Miras, Marc Terenzi, and Peer Kusmagk. The show, which aims for a spring 2027 release, involves contestants competing for a 50,000 Euro prize.

RTL has also announced the 11th season of ‘Das Sommerhaus der Stars,’ featuring eight celebrity couples. The new season began airing in late August 2026. Amidst the show's launch, controversy has emerged regarding participants Nico Legat and Laura Parrinello, following social media speculation about whether Parrinello lost her job at a clinic where the couple met. However, fellow contestant Hati Suarez stated that Parrinello is still employed.

In other media news, antique dealer Wolfgang Pauritsch reported a loss on the ZDF show ‘Bares für Rares’ after purchasing a damaged bronze bird statue for 1,350 Euro, significantly exceeding its estimated value of 500 Euro.
