SAT and Colombian authorities announce tax relief and earthquake aid

In Mexico, the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) has launched the 2026 Fiscal Regularization Program. This initiative allows individuals and companies to reduce fines, surcharges, and execution expenses by up to 100 percent for debts originating in 2024 or earlier. The deadline to apply for these benefits is October 31, 2026. Authorities report that the program has already facilitated the recovery of billions of pesos nationwide.

In Colombia, the government has implemented tax relief measures for citizens affected by the earthquake on August 10. Taxpayers in designated municipalities can apply for an extension to file and pay their 2025 income tax. The new deadlines, determined by the last two digits of the NIT, will extend through October and November 2026. Additionally, the government announced that rental subsidies for families displaced by the earthquake will begin distribution next week.
