Satellite restaurant to close State Street location in Santa Barbara

Satellite, a wine bar and vegan-focused restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara, will close its State Street location on September 13 after ten years of operation. Owner Drew Cuddy cited difficulties in reaching a lease agreement with the landlords at Kiva Cowork as a primary reason for the closure.

Cuddy noted that operational differences between the two businesses contributed to the decision, specifically noting that the coworking space's 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours did not align with the restaurant's peak activity between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Additionally, a lack of foot traffic on State Street presented ongoing challenges.

Following the closure, Satellite will transition its operations to The Factory, an event space located at 616 East Haley Street. The business plans to continue its wine club, tastings, and music programming at the new location. Kiva Cowork expressed support for the transition and intends to introduce a new concept for the entrance area at the State Street site.
