Satellogic appoints former U.S. intelligence chief Frank Whitworth as president
Satellogic, an Earth-observation company, has appointed retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth as its new president. Whitworth, who previously led the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) from 2022 until late 2024, will oversee internal operations and integrate the company’s mission with its sales and marketing efforts.
In his new role, Whitworth will help shape the strategy for Satellogic’s defense and intelligence product suite. His background includes 36 years in government and military intelligence, including roles with the NSA and involvement in the Pentagon’s Maven artificial intelligence program. He will report to CEO Emiliano Kargieman.
Satellogic currently operates 18 imaging satellites and is developing a new constellation called ‘Merlin,’ which aims to provide daily global coverage. The company, founded by Argentine engineers, went public in 2022 with former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin serving as chairman.
