Satou Sabally to miss remainder of WNBA season with head injury

New York Liberty forward Satou Sabally will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season and the postseason due to a head injury. The team announced Thursday that Sabally has been sidelined since June 23, when she sustained a concussion during a game against the Las Vegas Aces.

This marks Sabally’s second concussion in less than a year, following a previous head injury sustained during the 2025 WNBA Finals while playing for the Phoenix Mercury. Although she had cleared concussion protocol, she continued to struggle with lingering symptoms.

Sabally, a three-time All-Star, appeared in 13 games this season, averaging 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. In response to her absence, the Liberty signed Anneli Maley to a standard player contract and Madison Scott to a developmental contract. The Liberty currently hold a 24-16 record and are competing for playoff seeding.
