SATS Ltd faces margin pressure amid Indian logistics expansion
SATS Ltd is navigating a period of mixed financial performance and strategic expansion. Following its 1Q FY27 results, the company's shares experienced a 15% decline. While revenue grew 11.3% year-on-year, driven by record air cargo volumes in its Gateway Services segment, the company faced margin compression across all major tiers and a decline in results from joint ventures. Operational challenges included a 5.3% quarter-on-quarter decrease in total flights handled, attributed to airline capacity cuts and disruptions stemming from conflicts in the Middle East.
Simultaneously, the Singapore-based firm is aggressively expanding its logistics footprint in India. SATS plans to develop integrated multimodal logistics facilities to support India’s manufacturing sector by connecting production centers with airports and seaports. The company has already committed significant capital to Noida International Airport, including a ₹1,000 crore investment in its cargo facility and an additional ₹600 crore planned for an integrated logistics park. SATS aims to further develop transhipment centers in major metropolitan areas to link airports with key ports such as Kolkata and Chennai.
