Saturn offers celestial viewing opportunities in October
Stargazers have several celestial viewing opportunities involving Saturn in mid-to-late October. The moon will appear to drift toward the east, transitioning through its phases and appearing to pass near Saturn on the nights of October 23 and 24 due to their shared line of sight.
Additionally, Saturn’s moon Tethys will perform a transit across the planet's disk, accompanied by its shadow. This event is particularly visible from the United States. One transit is scheduled for the early hours of October 17 (late October 16 in western time zones), with a second transit occurring on the evening of October 18. Observers using telescopes may be able to distinguish Tethys alongside other moons such as Dione, Rhea, and Titan.
