Saudi airlines add Kuala Lumpur route as Saudia wins Cannes Lions awards
Riyadh Air announced the opening of ticket sales for three weekly flights linking Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The service will start on 30 July 2026 and is intended to deepen trade, pilgrimage and educational ties between the two countries.
Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, earned three Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity awards for its “Let It Fly” marketing programme and the “The Coolest Ihram” pilgrim‑comfort innovation. “Let It Fly” granted additional baggage allowance through collectible stickers, recording more than 39,000 redemptions across 22 countries. “The Coolest Ihram” distributed over 14,000 cooling garments to pilgrims and generated over 237 million media impressions. Saudia’s Vice President of Marketing, Essam Akhonbay, said the accolades underline the airline’s commitment to enhancing guest experience and supporting Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
