Saudi analyst predicts restoration of Yemeni state by 2027

Saudi political analyst Abdullah Ghanem Al-Qahtani has outlined a roadmap for Yemen’s future, predicting a major political and military shift by September 26, 2027. Al-Qahtani suggests this date could mark the actual restoration of state institutions and the capital, Sanaa, from Houthi control.

The analyst warns that the subsequent transitional period will be highly sensitive. He emphasizes the need for the state to manage transitional justice and legal accountability promptly to prevent extrajudicial revenge, tribal feuds, or cycles of violence against those involved in previous conflicts.

Regarding regional roles, Al-Qahtani expects Saudi Arabia to lead efforts in supporting the Yemeni state, facilitating national dialogue, and preventing regional or tribal fighting. He notes that a shift in Yemen would have significant geopolitical consequences, including improved maritime security in the Bab al-Mandab strait and the Red Sea, which would normalize global trade routes. Such a transition could also pressure Iran to revise its regional policies and prompt Arab and Gulf nations to reassess their political and security priorities.
