Saudi Arabia and Kuwait foil methamphetamine smuggling attempts
Authorities in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have intercepted significant shipments of methamphetamine.
At Jeddah Islamic Port, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) seized 58.6 kilograms of methamphetamine. The narcotics were concealed within cavities in a shipment of men’s shoes. Following the discovery, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest three individuals intended to receive the shipment within the Kingdom.
In Kuwait, the General Department for Drug Control foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. The drugs were hidden inside the tampered pages of books within a cargo shipment. An Asian national suspected of trafficking was arrested, and the case has been referred to the relevant authorities.
