Saudi Arabia and Lebanon agree to activate joint committee
Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability.
The two officials agreed to immediately activate the Saudi-Lebanese Joint Committee. This strategic move aims to increase political and economic coordination, fostering new channels for investment, trade, and expertise exchange. The activation follows the lifting of restrictions on Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, opening a new phase for commercial cooperation.
Discussions also focused on regional tensions and efforts to de-escalate conflict. Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed support for the Lebanese government's efforts to maintain national institutions to ensure regional security, while Prime Minister Salam emphasized the need for clear timelines and verification mechanisms regarding regional frameworks.
