Saudi Arabia and Türkiye approve reciprocal visa waiver for special passports

Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have officially approved a reciprocal visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic and special passports. The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, gave final approval to the deal, completing the ratification process following Türkiye’s prior approval in June.

Under the agreement, eligible passport holders can enter, transit through, leave, or make temporary stays in either country without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. The arrangement is intended to facilitate official travel and strengthen bilateral ties.

The exemption specifically applies to diplomatic and special passport holders (often referred to as green passports in Türkiye) and does not extend to ordinary passport holders, who must continue to follow standard visa requirements. The Turkish Embassy in Riyadh noted that the official effective date for the new rules will be announced separately.
