Saudi Arabia begins 2027 Hajj preparations with 75 nations

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has initiated preparatory meetings with Hajj affairs offices from over 75 countries, including Nigeria, to coordinate operations for the 2027 Hajj season. These early planning efforts aim to enhance service quality and facilitate the journey of pilgrims in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program. The ministry has already released a timetable for the 2027 season, setting September 26 as the deadline for final pilgrim registration by participating nations.

In Nigeria, stakeholders and the Independent Hajj Reporters have urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to better leverage the economic opportunities within the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem. Highlighting the sector's scale, stakeholders noted that the pilgrimage generates significant activity across aviation, hospitality, healthcare, and logistics. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding digital information management, with calls for specialized media teams to manage information flow and prevent confusion during the exercise.
