Saudi Arabia considers regional alliance shifts to resolve Yemen conflict

The Yemeni crisis is entering a more complex phase characterized by multiple centers of influence and diverging priorities among local and regional powers. Analysts suggest that for Saudi Arabia to achieve a sustainable political settlement and exit the conflict, it may need to move beyond purely military tools and instead focus on reorganizing its network of allies on the ground.

This proposed strategy involves rebuilding understandings with the United Arab Emirates and recognizing the role of the Southern Transitional Council and southern forces. Proponents argue that establishing a cohesive network of local allies would provide Riyadh with stronger negotiating leverage in any future political track with the Houthi group. Given that the conflict has evolved into a multi-party struggle involving overlapping local, regional, and international interests, a strategy that fails to account for the field balances and interests of local forces may struggle to convert military advantages into stable political outcomes.
