Saudi Arabia denies suicide bomber reports at Makkah's Grand Mosque
Saudi Arabian authorities have officially denied viral social media reports claiming a suicide bombing attempt occurred at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Security officials clarified that the incident involved the arrest of an individual for harassing passersby and causing panic and fear among those at the holy site.
According to the Saudi General Directorate of Public Security, the individual was dealt with immediately, and legal procedures were followed before the case was referred to the Public Prosecution. Authorities emphasized that there is no truth to the claims that a person wearing an explosive vest approached the Kaaba.
Investigations into the circulating footage suggest that some videos being used to support these claims actually date back to February 2017, when a man was arrested for attempting to set himself on fire near the Kaaba. Saudi officials have urged the public to rely on official sources to avoid spreading unverified information.
