Saudi Arabia detains 14,434 for residency and border violations

Saudi Arabian authorities apprehended 14,434 individuals for violating residency, labor, and border security regulations during joint field operations conducted between August 20 and August 26, 2026.

The breakdown of violators includes 6,976 for residency violations, 4,110 for border security breaches, and 3,348 for labor law infractions. Among those caught attempting to cross the border illegally, 1,450 individuals were intercepted, consisting of 58% Ethiopians and 41% Yemenis.

Additionally, 27 individuals were detained for involvement in transporting, sheltering, or operating illegal residents. The Ministry of Interior reported that 14,905 violators were deported, while 18,914 were referred to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents. The Ministry warned that facilitating illegal entry or providing shelter can result in up to 15 years in prison and fines reaching one million riyals.
