Saudi Arabia implements new regulations for camel trade
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has approved a new regulatory framework to govern the camel trade across the Kingdom. The rules aim to modernize the sector by establishing clearer parameters for sales, purchases, rentals, and exchanges.
The framework is designed to create a more traceable and structured trading environment, aligning camel commerce with existing agricultural, animal welfare, and digital registration systems. Key objectives include safeguarding the interests of owners and traders, strengthening the livestock sector, and reinforcing welfare standards. The new regulations also emphasize compliance with health and biosecurity requirements through integrated documentation of ownership and commercial transactions.
