Saudi Arabia implements remote learning initiative
The Saudi Ministry of Education is introducing a planned remote learning experience as part of its efforts to modernize the national education system and align with Saudi Vision 2030. Unlike the emergency remote learning used during the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative is a structured educational practice designed to test technical readiness, develop digital competencies, and increase flexibility within the school system.
According to the Ministry of Education’s implementation guide for the year 1448 AH, the program will be rolled out through three levels of authority, not exceeding ten school days per academic year. The first level involves two unified school days in specific regions, including the Eastern Province, Tabuk, Najran, and Makkah. The second level allows education directors to designate three days, while the third level grants school principals who meet specific performance criteria the authority to designate up to five days of remote learning.
