Saudi Arabia issues red alerts for heavy rain and flash floods

The National Center for Meteorology and the General Directorate of Civil Defense have issued urgent weather warnings for several regions in Saudi Arabia, forecasting heavy rainfall, flash floods, hail, and thunderstorms through Tuesday.

Red alerts have been issued for parts of the Jazan and Asir regions, including municipalities such as Abu Arish, Samtah, Abha, and Al Namas. These areas are expected to experience intense weather phenomena, including high-speed winds, reduced visibility, and significant flood risks. In the Makkah region, heavy rains are anticipated in the Holy City, Taif, and surrounding areas, potentially leading to dust storms and flash floods.

Other regions, including Al Bahah, Madinah, Hail, Tabuk, and Al Jawf, may experience light to moderate rainfall. Civil Defense has urged citizens and residents to exercise extreme caution, avoid valleys and flood paths, and stay in safe locations to prevent accidents caused by the severe weather conditions.
