Saudi Arabia issues seven emergency alerts in one day

The Saudi Civil Defense issued a second early warning in Abha on Sunday evening, October 18, 2026, bringing the total number of emergency alerts issued across the Kingdom to seven within a single day.

The specific nature of the danger was not disclosed, but the Civil Defense announced that the threat had subsided approximately two minutes after the 21:42 local time alert. Residents were advised to follow safety instructions and avoid crowds or filming the incidents.

Earlier alerts on Sunday included locations such as Khamis Mushait, Riyadh, Al-Sulayyil, and two separate alerts in the Najran region. All previous alerts were also followed by declarations that the danger had passed.

These warnings occur amid heightened military tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group, which escalated in July 2026. Recent attacks have targeted civil aviation facilities and energy infrastructure, including airports in Riyadh, Abha, Jazan, Najran, and Dammam. A coalition supporting legitimacy recently reported 19 deaths and 364 injuries resulting from attacks on Saudi airports.
