Saudi Arabia issues weather warnings for heavy rain and flash floods
The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has issued urgent weather warnings, including a red alert for Makkah and its surrounding governorates such as Al-Jamum, Rahat, and Madrakah. The region is expected to experience heavy thunderstorms, intense downdrafts, hail, and strong winds, which may lead to flash floods in valleys and wadis. These conditions are expected to cause near-total loss of horizontal visibility.
Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy thunderstorms across several regions, including Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Madinah, and parts of the highlands. Additional weather phenomena such as blowing dust, sand, and fog are expected in various areas, including Najran and the Eastern Province. While much of the Kingdom remains under unstable conditions, cities like Riyadh, Tabuk, Arar, and Sakaka are expected to remain relatively stable. High temperatures continue across the country, with Madinah and Dammam forecasted to reach 44°C.
