Saudi Arabia launches $2 billion private equity fund with Brookfield
Saudi Arabia, through its Public Investment Fund (PIF) and partner Brookfield, announced the first close of a new private‑equity vehicle worth about USD 2 billion. The fund, managed by Brookfield Middle East Partners, will invest in high‑growth businesses across Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council, with roughly half of the capital expected to be deployed in the Kingdom. The initiative supports Vision 2030 by expanding financing options for sectors critical to economic diversification.
In parallel, the Saudi cabinet approved an updated investment law aimed at streamlining company registration, aligning treatment of foreign and domestic investors, guaranteeing free fund transfers and strengthening intellectual‑property protections. The reforms are designed to make the Saudi market more predictable for long‑term capital. The country also signed a series of $2 billion memorandums of understanding with Pakistan covering agriculture, mining, IT and energy, further extending its investment outreach.
