Saudi Arabia Ministry of Human Resources announces wage increases and temporary work services

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has outlined new measures to regulate the labor market and improve job quality. Through the ‘Ajeer’ platform, the Ministry provides electronic services to organize temporary work and the movement of labor between establishments for specific periods. This service allows workers to work for a designated entity temporarily without a permanent transfer of services, which differs from standard job transfers via the ‘Qiwa’ platform.

Eligible sectors for these temporary contracts include construction, cleaning, catering, maintenance, operation, consultancy, and educational institutes. To utilize this service, providing establishments must maintain a ‘low green’ Nitaqat status or higher.

Additionally, the Ministry has detailed a phased plan to raise the minimum wage for specific private sector categories to improve citizen income. The plan targets full-time employees, part-time workers, flexible workers, students working part-time, and capable persons with disabilities. The minimum wage required to count a Saudi worker fully toward Saudization (Nitaqat) ratios will increase to 5,000 SAR in April 2027, and subsequently to 6,000 SAR in April 2028.
