Saudi Arabia opens Tasheer visa office in Damascus to boost trade

The Saudi Embassy in Syria has officially opened a ‘Tasheer’ office in Damascus to facilitate visa procedures and enhance trade and transport between Saudi Arabia and Syria. The initiative aims to support the Syrian economy's recovery and reduce operational burdens on exporters and carriers.

The office has begun issuing visas for Syrian truck drivers transporting goods in transit through Jordan toward Saudi Arabian and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets. Additionally, the office will process applications for business travelers and passenger transport, with plans to gradually expand services to include other types of visits.

The opening ceremony was attended by high-level diplomats, including Saudi Ambassador Fahad bin Salem Abu Thnein and Saudi Chargé d'Affaires Abdullah Al-Haris, alongside representatives from Syrian ministries of foreign affairs, tourism, and social affairs. This move follows the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two nations and is intended to strengthen economic ties and regional stability.
