Saudi Arabia pledges $6 million to UN Counter-Terrorism Office
Saudi Arabia has announced a $6 million financial contribution to support the programs of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNCCT). Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud revealed that the funds will be distributed over four years, beginning in the 2027 fiscal year.
This commitment follows Saudi Arabia’s previous role as a founding partner of the UNCCT, which included an initial contribution exceeding $100 million. The new funding aims to enhance international efforts to combat extremism, develop technical and human capacities in member states, and ensure the sustainability of vital security initiatives.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Prince Faisal bin Farhan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. During their discussions, they reviewed cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the UN, as well as regional and international developments.
