Qiddiya circuit project features suspended curve in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is developing the Qiddiya Speed Park Track, a major Formula 1 project located near Riyadh within the Qiddiya City entertainment complex. Designed by Hermann Tilke in collaboration with Alexander Wurz, the circuit is part of the Public Investment Fund’s Vision 2030 economic diversification strategy.

The track features a highly innovative structure known as ‘The Blade,’ a suspended curve positioned 70 meters above a concert hall. This cantilevered section is designed to meet FIA Grade 1 and FIM Grade A standards. Construction, managed by the Saudi company Unimac with an estimated investment of approximately $480 million, began in 2024.

The circuit is expected to feature 21 curves, a total elevation change of 108 meters, and top speeds exceeding 320 km/h. It is intended to eventually replace the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, though a definitive debut date has not been confirmed.
