Saudi Arabia Provides Care for 124 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims as Hotel Capacity Expands

Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs reports that 124 Indonesian pilgrims are receiving medical treatment in Saudi hospitals after experiencing health problems during the 1447 AH Hajj season. The Saudi Hajj Organising Committee and health officials are monitoring their conditions, coordinating with families and Indonesian authorities, and will arrange repatriation when medically cleared.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s hospitality sector in Makkah and Madinah is showing strong performance in early 2026 despite regional tensions. Average daily hotel rates in Makkah reached 775 riyal and occupancy remains robust, while new hotel rooms under construction are set to increase total capacity from 176,260 to over 281,500 rooms by 2030. The kingdom expects 1.71 million pilgrims in 2026, with Indonesia among the top source markets.

Both developments highlight the importance of health services for pilgrims and the expanding infrastructure supporting the world’s largest annual religious gathering.
