Saudi Arabia records 15.2 million Umrah pilgrims in Q1 2026

Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics reported that over 15.2 million Umrah pilgrims visited the Kingdom during the first quarter of 2026. Of this total, approximately 9.4 million were domestic pilgrims, while 5.7 million arrived from outside the country.

Among international pilgrims, females accounted for 51.9% (2.9 million) compared to 48.2% males (2.7 million). Air travel was the primary mode of arrival for international visitors, accounting for 86% of transport, followed by land at 13.6% and sea at 0.4%.

Domestic pilgrims included 4.4 million Saudi citizens and 5.07 million non-Saudi residents. Within the domestic group, 75.4% performed the rituals with family, 17.2% individually, and 7.4% with friends. The Makkah region was the largest source of domestic pilgrims, accounting for 43% of the total.

Additionally, Madinah received more than 3.7 million international visitors during the same period, while domestic religious visitors to the city exceeded 1.9 million. These figures align with the strategic goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance services and infrastructure for religious guests.
