Saudi Arabia rejects use of waterways as tools for blackmail

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed the United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing that protecting international maritime navigation is a shared global responsibility. He stated that Saudi Arabia rejects the use of waterways as tools for blackmail, pressure, or threats, noting that such disruptions impact the global economy and energy security.

Bin Farhan criticized the Houthi militia for its actions in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, calling on the international community to reject their practices and ensure stability and civilian protection in Yemen. He also addressed regional tensions, noting that Saudi Arabia and other regional nations have faced Iranian attacks.

The Foreign Minister advocated for comprehensive regional security arrangements that address actual sources of threat and emphasized the necessity of a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction. He expressed support for Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran.
