Saudi Arabia reports $4.8 billion trade surplus and industrial growth

Saudi Arabia reported a trade surplus of SAR 18 billion ($4.79 billion) in June 2026, according to the General Authority for Statistics. While merchandise exports decreased by 4.5 percent compared to June 2025, the proportion of oil exports within the total export mix rose to 72 percent.

Non-oil exports, including re-exports, saw a decrease of 9.7 percent. Key non-oil sectors included plastic and rubber, which accounted for 20.7 percent of total non-oil exports, and chemical products, which represented 19.2 percent.

In the industrial and logistics sector, Saudi Arabia is seeing significant growth as part of its Vision 2030 diversification goals. The country's industrial base expanded to approximately 13,660 establishments in April 2026. This growth has led to high occupancy rates exceeding 90 percent in major hubs like Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Dammam Metropolitan Area.

Rising demand for industrial real estate has driven up rental rates. In the Dammam Metropolitan Area, average rents rose by 6.9 percent, while Jeddah saw a 4.8 percent increase and Riyadh saw a 3.9 percent increase.
