Saudi Arabia reports rising currency reserves and endowment profits
Saudi Arabia has reported significant financial gains across its central reserves and endowment sectors. According to data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the nation’s foreign currency reserves rose by 7.2 percent year-on-year in August 2026, reaching $462.15 billion. Official reserve assets, which include monetary gold and Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), reached $487.31 billion during the same period.
Separately, the General Authority for Saudi Awqaf announced that it has begun depositing profits from endowment real estate funds earned during the first half of fiscal year 2026. Cumulative profits from the start of these investments through mid-2026 total approximately $488 million (1.83 billion Saudi riyals), benefiting roughly 1,797 waqfs. These returns stem from endowed properties that were either expropriated for public interest or disposed of via court order.
