Saudi Arabia reports rising trade surplus and producer prices
Saudi Arabia's trade surplus reached 61.52 billion riyals in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 62% annual increase. According to data from the General Authority for Statistics, total commodity exports rose by 4% to approximately 285.98 billion riyals, while commodity imports decreased by 5% to roughly 224.46 billion riyals.
In July 2026, the Saudi Producer Price Index (PPI) recorded a 5.3% annual increase. This rise was driven by higher prices in the manufacturing sector, specifically in chemicals and chemical products (up 13.1%), clothing (up 12.9%), and basic metals (up 8.8%). Additionally, water and waste management services saw a 6.8% annual increase. However, on a monthly basis, the PPI fell by 2.8% in July compared to June 2026, largely due to a 3% decline in manufacturing prices.
