Trump Ties Saudi Nuclear Deal to Joining Abraham Accords

The United States and Saudi Arabia signed a 30‑year “123 Agreement” to cooperate on a civilian nuclear program, permitting U.S. firms to supply reactors while formally prohibiting uranium enrichment. President Donald Trump subsequently announced that the agreement will proceed only if Saudi Arabia normalizes diplomatic relations with Israel by joining the Abraham Accords. He posted the condition on his social‑media platform, stating that without the Accords “the deal is off.” The requirement was not part of the original agreement and surprised officials who had already finalized the pact.

Saudi officials have not confirmed acceptance, citing the need for a clear path to a Palestinian state.
