Saudi Arabia sees rise in foreign investment and consumer spending
Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant economic growth driven by foreign investment and increased domestic consumer spending. According to data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the Kingdom’s cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) stock reached SAR 1.142 trillion ($304.5 billion) by the end of Q2 2026, representing an 11.4% year-on-year increase.
This influx of capital is attributed to the Vision 2030 initiatives, which aim to diversify the economy through sectors such as technology, logistics, tourism, and financial services. Efforts by the Ministry of Investment to streamline regulations and the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) program have further bolstered international investor confidence.
Simultaneously, domestic consumer spending rose 3.5% to SR13.37 billion for the week ending September 26, 2026. Growth was particularly strong in the hotels, recreation, and furniture sectors. Hotel spending saw a 20.7% jump, while recreation and culture spending rose by 14%, supported by an expanding calendar of sporting and entertainment events.
