Saudi Arabia selects Mohammed Al-Owais for Gulf Cup 27

Saudi Arabia national football team head coach Georgios Donis has selected veteran goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais as the starting goalkeeper for the upcoming 27th Arabian Gulf Cup. Al-Owais was chosen over younger goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi due to his extensive international experience and recent performances, including his participation in the World Cup.

Donis marks the 23rd manager in the history of the Saudi national team to participate in the Gulf Cup. His appointment introduces the Greek coaching school to the tournament's history, which dates back to 1970. The tournament, hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, sees the national team aiming for its fourth title to build upon its previous victories in 1994, 2002, and 2003.
