Saudi Arabia tourism and entertainment sectors see rapid expansion

Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant growth in its tourism and entertainment sectors as part of the Vision 2030 initiative. Licensed tourism hospitality facilities rose 17.9% year-on-year in the second quarter, reaching a total of 6,278 establishments. This includes 3,020 hotels and 3,258 serviced apartments and other facilities. The expansion of accommodation inventory includes a 13.2% increase in licensed hotel rooms and a 19.7% rise in serviced apartment rooms.

The tourism workforce has also expanded, with approximately 1.07 million people employed in tourism activities during the second quarter. This growth supports the Kingdom’s revised goal of attracting 150 million domestic and international tourists by 2030, having already surpassed its initial 100 million target in 2023.

In the entertainment sector, ticket volumes for events rebounded by 34% during July and August following a decline in the first half of the year. While average ticket prices fell by approximately 40%, the market saw increased participation from organizers. Specific growth was noted in comedy ticket sales and live sports, with regional expansion occurring in areas such as Jeddah and Aseer.
