Saudi Arabia tourism grows as Qatar Airways expands regional network

Saudi Arabia is experiencing a significant shift in travel patterns, characterized by resilient demand and a surge in domestic tourism. According to data from Almosafer Travel & Tourism Co., domestic travel now accounts for 46% of all bookings, with domestic room nights increasing by 44% year-on-year. Growth is particularly strong in religious tourism within Makkah and Madinah, as well as leisure destinations like the Red Sea, where room nights have seen massive increases.

In support of regional connectivity, Qatar Airways is expanding its presence in the Kingdom. The airline will resume services to four destinations—Qassim, Taif, Yanbu, and Tabuk—starting in late 2026 and early 2027. This expansion brings the airline's total weekly flights to Saudi Arabia to 155 for the winter season, representing a more than 10% increase compared to the summer, further integrating the Saudi market with Qatar Airways' global network.
