Saudi Arabia weather alert: Heavy rain and flash floods expected

The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has issued warnings regarding heavy rainfall and potential flash floods across several key regions. The forecast predicts moderate to heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and flowing valleys in Jazan, Asir, Al Bahah, Makkah, and Madinah.

Additional areas, including Tabuk, Hail, Al Jouf, and the Northern Borders, may also experience thunderstorm activity. The weather patterns are expected to include strong surface winds that could stir up dust and sand, reducing visibility on highways. Experts note that while these rains support groundwater and agriculture, the rugged terrain in the southwestern highlands increases the risk of sudden, violent flash floods, requiring readiness from civil defense and municipal authorities.
