Saudi Arabia weather alerts issued for heavy rain and flash floods
The National Center for Meteorology has issued urgent weather warnings for several regions in Saudi Arabia, forecasting heavy thunderstorms, hail, and potential flash floods.
Key affected areas include Makkah, Jazan, Al Bahah, Asir, Madinah, and parts of the Eastern Province. In Makkah and Al Bahah, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, accompanied by strong winds, hail, and significantly reduced visibility due to dust and sand. Jazan is facing similar conditions, with heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted across numerous governorates, including Farasan Island.
In addition to the rain, the meteorological center warned of active surface winds that may cause dust storms and reduced horizontal visibility. Fog is also anticipated along the coasts of Makkah, Madinah, and the Eastern Province. Authorities have advised residents and drivers, particularly those on mountain roads, to exercise extreme caution and avoid valley paths to ensure safety from sudden floods.
