Saudi Arabia weather: Heavy rain and flash flood warnings issued

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued warnings for moderate to heavy rainfall across several regions of Saudi Arabia. The Makkah region is expected to experience heavy rain, potential flash floods, hail, and dust-raising winds from Saturday through Wednesday. Other areas facing similar hazards include Jazan, Asir, Baha, Tabuk, Jouf, Najran, and the Northern Borders.

In the Madinah region, light to moderate rainfall is forecast through Tuesday, accompanied by thunderstorms and reduced visibility. The Eastern Province also faces a chance of thunderstorms, while coastal areas may experience fog during the night and early morning hours.

A seasonal outlook indicates that wetter-than-usual conditions may persist through November. There is an 80 per cent probability of above-average precipitation across most regions during October, with Mecca, Jazan, and much of the Eastern Province identified as areas where rainfall could reach extremely heavy levels. Temperatures are expected to remain above average until the end of December.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has urged the public to exercise caution, avoid valleys and flood-prone areas, and follow official instructions via media platforms.
