Saudi Arabian Football Federation supports FIFA President Gianni Infantino
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has publicly announced its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, aiming to restore unity within the global football community. This endorsement comes one month after a crisis triggered by Infantino’s unsuccessful attempt to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors in a project valued at $20 billion.
SAFF stated that it supports Infantino’s efforts to bring the football family back together and called for direct, face-to-face dialogue to address ongoing concerns. The federation also welcomed FIFA’s recent acknowledgment of mistakes regarding the failed investment project.
Infantino has maintained close political and sporting ties with Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which helped secure the kingdom as the host for the 2034 World Cup. The Saudi announcement follows a period of silence from the federation while other major bodies, including UEFA and CONCACAF, criticized Infantino’s leadership.
