Saudi Arabia community sports initiative reaches 2,200 participants

The 'Community Sports in Public Parks' initiative, organized by the Ministry of Sport in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, has seen over 2,200 participants across several Saudi Arabian cities.

Launched on May 7, 2026, the program utilizes 19 different sports federations to provide diverse athletic experiences in accessible public environments. Activities have taken place in Riyadh, Abha, Taif, and other regions.

In Riyadh, participating parks hosted activities including badminton, archery, basketball, and Muay Thai. The initiative also expanded to the Asir region with boxing and kickboxing events, and to Taif, where a single location hosted six different federations—including wrestling, weightlifting, and Paralympic athletics—drawing approximately 1,000 participants.
