Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund pitches to Wall Street
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is conducting a series of high-level meetings with major Wall Street firms in New York this week. Arranged by Lazard, the delegation—which includes representatives from HUMAIN, Red Sea Global, and the King Abdullah Financial District—aims to engage with investors such as Apollo, Blackstone, Brookfield, Carlyle, and KKR. Rather than seeking funding for a specific transaction, the meetings are intended to lay the groundwork for future debt and equity investment and to familiarize global investors with the PIF portfolio.
The push for foreign capital comes as Riyadh seeks to reduce its reliance on sovereign capital and bolster economic resilience under its Vision 2030 framework. While the kingdom has spent hundreds of billions of dollars on domestic projects, it attracted $32.6 billion in net inflows last year, falling short of its $100 billion foreign direct investment target for 2030.
In addition to capital attraction, Saudi Arabia is implementing measures to protect its economy from regional geopolitical risks. The Cabinet has approved a Saudi Marine War Risks Insurance Pool, coordinated by Saudi Re, to support maritime trade and supply chains by preserving insurance capacity during periods of heightened tension.
